Partner

Lerato obtained her LLB from the University of Pretoria in 2011. Whilst studying Lerato was chosen for the Dean’s Merit List and was invited as a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society for her high academic academic achievements. After graduating she joined MacRobert Attorneys where she gained experience in commercial property and individual property transactions and all aspects of Commercial and Employment Law. In 2014 she was admitted as an attorney and was appointed as an Associate at Crafford Attorneys after which she joined as a partner in LKA. Lerato advises clients in all aspects of Employment Law and represents clients in all labour forums, including the Labour Court and the CCMA. Lerato boasts as clients a long list of corporate entities dealing with all manner of administrative law, in particular the granting of tenders and review applications in respect thereof and civil claims. She holds an LLB from the University of Pretoria and an Advanced Certificate in Business Rescue. She is currently completing her Master’s Degree in Labour Law. She is a member of SASLAW and the ILO and a member in good standing of the Legal Practice Council.

Partner

Sonette has been engaged in assisting clients in the security industry for her entire professional career and has in depth knowledge of the challenges and needs of the industry. During her tenure as attorney and head of the labour law department at Macrobert Attorneys and as Partner at Crafford Attorneys, she acted for and advised the trustees, principle officer and legal advisors of the Private Security Sector Provident Fund on a number of matters, including disputes with non-compliant employers, administrators and service providers, provisions of the Pensions Funds Act, contractual relationships between the Fund and third parties and other related matters.  She has served two terms as a Trustee on the Board of that Fund and continues to serve the Private Security Industry in various capacities, as attorney to several large security providers, employer trustee representing South Africa Security Association on the PSSPF Board, regularly gives on regulatory requirements in the industry and the Main Collective Agreement in the Private Security Sector Bargaining Council.

Sonette holds an LLB degree from the University of Pretoria as well as an LLM degree with specialization in Tax Law. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Pension Funds Law and is intent on reading for a Doctorate in Labour Law on whether the South African labour legal framework is “fit for purpose”.

Senior Associate

Carien obtained her LLB from the University of Stellenbosch during December 2016 and was admitted as an Attorney during February 2018 and a Notary during December 2021. Carien is an avid litigant and obtained her Right of Appearance in the High Court during May 2018, she has been representing clients in court ever since.

Prior to deciding to focus on Labour Law and joining Lancaster Kungoane Attorneys in March 2023, Carien did the rounds in the Western Cape High- and Magistrates’ Courts, mainly representing corporate clients and attending to civil litigation.

Associate

Anika was admitted as an attorney of the High Court on 6 October 2022. She joined Lancaster Kungoane Attorneys as a Candidate Attorney in 2021 after having completed her first year of articles at a firm specialising in Third Party Claims. She completed both her BCom (Law) (2017) and LLB (2019) degrees at the University of Pretoria. In 2019 Anika served as a member of the University of Pretoria’s Student Disciplinary Advisory Panel (SDAP) as outreach coordinator and worked in the University’s Law Clinic. Anika has completed short courses in Deceased Estates, Accounts Management, Copy Editing and Compliance Management. Anika has to date gained experience in various fields of law, including Labour Law and High Court and Magistrate’s Court civil litigation.

Administration Officer

A qualified and experienced office administrator and manager. Competent in Human Resource administration and bookkeeping.

With varied skills from the retail sector and services industries, Suzan is an adept multitasker with strong ability to run the overall daily operations of an office environment that includes staff management and customer service with the ability to communicate well with diverse groups and individuals.
